Christmas and New year was
celebrated as a spectacular event by Southend Malayalee
Association on 28th Dec 2008 at Eastwood
Community Centre, freezing cold weather did not deter
Southend Malayalees from gathering to celebrate the event.
All
started with the traditional welcome to eminent
personalities by young children at the hall entrance with
floral decorations and lighted candle. The general meeting
was inaugurated by Honourable mayor of Southend Borough
Council Mrs. Gwen Horrigan, by lightening the lamp, she
offered all support to our community for our future
activities, felicitations given by Dr.Vel
(Councillor-Westborough), Mr.John Barber (Community in
harmony partnership event co-ordinator) and by Mr.Horrigan.
The meeting was welcomed by Mr.Joby John and thanks
rendered by Mr.Rajeev Nair.
The
programme commenced with the melodious songs sung by SMA
music group which was enjoyable to every one. Other item on
the agenda was stunning performance by young children’s of
SMA- A drama based dance and music show about birth of Lord
Jesus Christ, Excellent costumes added colour to the play
and helped illustrate and define each characters role,
Western band by CADO Southend, was a variety experience.
Classical, cinematic and folk dance by troupe led by Swarup
Menon was amazing to every one and duet by Mr.Davis and
family invited special attention, and the programme
concluded with luscious Christmas meal, its an exceptional
event by SMA, all in one it was an entertaining and joyous
day ,filled with good sprits and love for all. SMA thanking
all programme participants and each and every one of you all
who helped and supported to make it a big success….
